My Weekly Top Things

I've been thinking about how and why I began offering behavior change services for not only the children and adults that filled up my caseload but the MOMS who I saw truly putting in the work day-in and day-out throughout all the intensive programing. The delivery of these services has adjusted somewhat since first adding this to my repertoire of offerings; and it's ever-evolving still. What I've realized I truly enjoy doing through this avenue is teaching you about behavior change tools that target the most difficult part of us - our thoughts and feelings - and I'll continue doing this but it may start to look a bit different over the next few months. So stay tuned, Reader!

Coaching Moment

One of the most common concepts I am asked about when it comes to implementing behavior analytic programming is the concept of bribery....

Let's say you have an idea of something you want to do. Maybe it's something you feel you should do. Maybe it's even in total alignment with your values. But when you imagine yourself actually performing the desired response, you immediately bristle at the thought.

Now, you could try to convince yourself to do it, right?

Weekend Moment

Our Saturday was full of helping and hanging with friends so a chill day Sunday was in order. It ended up being my favorite kind of Sunday: full of cooking yummy meals and treats for the week and this time I had a few helpers that made the time even more enjoyable. The kitchen went through many stages of disarray but those are truly the best times together. We followed our food extravaganza with a whole family viewing of the amazing, the ageless, the classic: The Mighty Ducks. (Even if all jokes haven't aged well it makes for good conversation starters😆)

Mom-Me Moment

Last Friday night I joined the neighborhood swim team mom crew for an evening out. It's become an almost-monthly thing that we all eagerly anticipate as we count down to Memorial Day each year. This time we stayed out past my bedtime; worth it as we all went home with bellies aching from laughter. Ending the night at Still is always a good idea. I had donated blood that day so was the one who got everyone there and back responsibly (I mean can you think of a better reason for making friends with neighbors than for the carpooling🙃). It's nights like these that I feel fortunate for both the ability to get out when I wish and the love shared upon my return.

Future Moment

This weekend I have a home project I’m planning on tackling: updating our office/guest room, FINALLY. When our kids separated into their own rooms we combine these two spaces and it’s been driving me crazy has a dumping pit for all the things for too long. There’s an IKEA run planned, pretty sure an accent wall to be painted, and more organizing that even I am looking forward to. But I really can’t wait until I sit at my desk and love the space without feeling embarrassed and a little angry about what surrounds me.

I hope your weekend was a wonderful mix of all the right things for you too, Reader!

P.S.

Did ya hear? I'm swapping out 1:1 live coaching for asynchronous behavior change coaching this spring! Interested in hearing more about what this means or know someone that would be down for that set-up? Respond to this and I'll tell you all about it. Or even better, let's co-work sometime and catch up while knocking out those to-do lists together!

Kristin's Corner My Weekly Top Things Top Moments Coaching Moment Habituation was a word that came up this past week. Technically speaking, a decrease in responsiveness when an eliciting stimulus is presented repeatedly over a short period of time. In some life instances this is helpful. Getting used to noises, being less afraid of or annoyed at things. It can also lead to feeling bored of the same old same old. How can you switch things up this week so you don't get bored of the same...

Kristin's Corner My Weekly Top Things It's Wednesday night and my goal was to start sending this out each Monday... that worked well for one week. But ya know, Reader, I'd rather try, mess up, try, mess up, try, do, do, do than try, mess up, fail and stop. So here we are on a Wednesday sharing what I love to share with you! Top Moments Coaching Moment So this weekend I had an atypical coaching moment with my 7yo daughter. We came to an abrupt stop on our first run of the day as we saw a...

Kristin Frigelj Personal Development Coach I took part in a new experience yesterday, Reader. And if you know me, you know that new stuff can bring about some good old fashioned anxious feelings. This most recent event took place at my chiropractic appointment; a usually harmless event where I leave feeling all straightened out (albeit each time I do feel like he may snap my neck and murder me right then and there). This week he added in a new form of "treatment" in the form of traction. Now,...
